That is a real relief for the Gulf coast, particularly us on the west side of Florida but I feel sorry for the Islanders that are going to get all that mess.

That does not mean that us on the west coast of Florida are off the hook by any means. Long range models show many members well into the Gulf.

With the weather here in Florida I really trust little as I have sat out on a chaise and watched a bad thunderstorm form in what was a clear blue sky. Sorry but I would never go out on a boat in the Gulf as I watch storms form the same way on radar there. Bad weather here may be clear to meteorologists but ordinary people like me have to choose to take risks or not with weather. I evaced for Irma and Ian then stayed home through Helene and Milton. Helene because she was too big and would cover most of Florida and where I would go anyway and Milton because my car got totaled the day before. Irma cost me a solar light. Ian $13,000 in damages. Helene was scary but did nothing. Milton killed my central air and nothing else. It is a crap shoot every time.

Forgot to add another bit of weirdness of these storms. About 10 feet from my missing solar light my neighbor lost half his lanai roof yet nothing else on my house was damaged at all.

It doesn't even have to be a hurricane for the islands to have trouble; they just have to be in line for constant rain and/or thunderstorms daily for days on end; who wants to be stuck in THAT weather pattern anyway? Unless you're living on some island and you're a thunderstorm lover, but even the thunderstorm lovers may find this weather pattern too much to contend with, and there could be damaging floods and mudslides, let alone wind damage from any tropical storm that develops. Even in November, the Carribean nations are used to this; it's part of that Central American Gyre, an area of warn, humid, stormy crummy weather they get in the fall that can lead to part of it breaking off to become a named system. It also happens in April to June.

Yeah, I read up to 12 inches, possibly more of rain and no one needs that at one time. Considering the terrain on those islands, landslides and flash floods would be the real dangers.
