Oh boy, please stay south and east of us. I really don't want to go through another one so soon.. Helene and Milton were a little much to have in 2 weeks.
I know but after 2 so close together and hitting here I am somewhat skittish right now. Several of my neighbors have said this is it for them in Florida, they aren't staying. I'm not giving up but still this is damned annoying.
You are doing OK. I wouldn't give up, but I would still be cautious every summer and fall. I have heard there's people who are saying they are done and are packing their bags and leaving. I couldn't blame them, and I can understand your own anxiety. Like I say, I am not worried about the possible storm hitting Florida. One rule of thumb to go by: If the models keep pushing the storm further back in time, it's usually a sign the storm isn't ev er going to materialize. Usually, the models eventually give up on it.
I'm a bit of a mule at times and don't give up easily. For the most part I actually love living here as I feel so much better physically. I keep an eye on the models and listen but it has to actually be heading in this direction for me to start to worry and I mean really worry not just a bit skittish. Have to say though that two that close together was a bit much as was the number of tornadoes that Milton spawned. Wish I could believe we would get as long break as between Charley and Ian but doubt that will happen.
Charley was I think 21 years ago. That's a long time. Ian was in 2022. There was a whole bunch of hurricane strikes to Florida between Charley and Ian. It did include a 7-year break in U.S. landfalls during that time. Let's hope for another long break between U.S. landfalls!!
Yeh there were a lot of others but only Irma hit here between those two and by the time she got to Punta Gorda she didn't do much. I lost a solar light and my neighbor lost part of his lanai roof. And for that blasted storm I took 30+ hours trying to get to my brother's place in northern Alabama because everyone was evacuating from Georgia as well as Florida. Charley hit the coast on August 13, 2004.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. For all we know, it may not even form.

Thanks so much for this and past updates. Level-headed reporting on potentially dangerous weather systems is invaluable and very much appreciated!
