I don't know if you'll get your wish this year. Even if it were to strengthen, it might be too late to stop the oceanic record high water temperatures. It may cap the heat by July or August if it strengthens. At least the El Nino is at play, limiting storms as we just saw with Bret and Cindy, with the wind shear killing those 2 storms. Wind shear is your friend!! Speaking of which, thanks for being my new friend on Substack!! I enjoy our chats about the weather and other things.
Yeah the warm waters do make things iffy. I'm just hoping the El Nino helps keep things down a bit and any Saharan dust would be quite welcome. Makes for some great sunsets here on the Gulf coast too. I had never heard of Substack, still don't know anything about it but then I don't know anything much about Instagram, Tik Tok or Snapchat either. I only knew about Facebook because some of my family only communicate with each other on there or by texting on the phone and I seriously hate texting, a real waste of time. It is always good to hear from you.
I was on Facebook for 10 years; but I got kicked off by the platform for unknown reasons in 2019. Had I not been kicked off, I probably would have somehow eventually found you, and I might have run across Michael Lowery if I already done so; I don't recall ever running across him on Facebook. Anyway, we had a round of strong to severe thunderstorms around Syracuse tonight. Most places got over an inch to an inch and a half of rain. The airport got "gypped" with only 3 tenths. We needed the rain. We will need more tomorrow on top of today's. By late-week, I think we'll be well satisfied with the current and recent rains.
I have been put on restrictions on FB more than once. One time for a photo I put up of a museum exhibit that had a nude statue in the background which was the reason for the restriction. Another was for putting up a statement by Joseph Goebbels. Apparently they thought I was advocating his thoughts when I was putting up a warning about propaganda. I guess they don't read first. Had rain here for a few days but back to high heat and humidity which will run for the next few months. Generally in the 90s daily with triple digit heat index until October. Hope this hurricane season is kinder than last year.
I have heard of the nude statue thing at a museum; and yes, people have been put on restrictions because of it. I mean, it's a nude STATUE, not a HUMAN!! It's a STONE statue!! As for this Joseph Goebbels, I don't know who he is but it's not right to have this kind of censorship; and did you state on FB to your friends/connections that it's a WARNING about propaganda? Even so, they probably don't like such "warnings" on their site. They probably advocate that kind of propaganda. Today is clouds and sun here and it is a nice 78, somewhat lower humidity. A lot less chance of rain or a thunderstorm. We needed yesterday evening's big downpours.
Goebbels was propaganda minister for Adolf Hitler and a lot of what came out of some of Trump's administration was right out of his playbook, some of it word for word. I've seen a lot of downright twisted crap allowed on FB so was not happy with their decision, got a 30 day suspension. Not bad today here, sunny, temp 91 with heat index only 96, very low for this time of year but then the humidity is only 50%
I will get to the Cape sometime within the next couple of years as it really isn't all that far away. Definitely want to see both a day and a night launch. Bet the view at night with the flames from the rockets is something to see. I lived very near to where Madonna grew up and went to school long before she became famous, in fact my mom lived for a time less than a mile from her high school. I hear she is now out of the ICU but has a nasty bacterial infection. Not a fun thing to deal with and can be quite dangerous.
Gotta be sue to something with the El Nino wind patterns and the trade winds, as to how strong they are. The stronger they are, the more they could carry the dust plume. If there's hardly any easterly trades, they can't carry that dust.
May the Saharan dust become stronger farther into the season and stay later.

Hey Michael, awesome post. I’d love to chat with you for a story about this topic. Can you shoot me an email at rob@heatmap.news?
Thanks Michael! Do we know why the Saharan dust is so low this year?
