Already getting some stronger wind gusts here, nothing like we will get tomorrow or that the east coast will get or maybe already are. Work crews were out help put up patio furniture, etc a while ago. I had only put out a couple of resin chairs so no big deal for me. Glad I hadn't put together my new umbrella and patio table yet.

No, because they would easily blow away. Despite the storm, they have not yet rolled back the Artemis rocket at the Cape. If the rocket survives OK without even minor damage, they are supposed to launch it late Sunday night. I doubt that will happen. Stay tuned though, Laura, just in case. I am sure it's very windy and rainy now on the Eastern coast of the state.

It is already getting slightly windy and rainy over here in the Gulf coast so I am sure they are having it worse. One of these days I have to get over to the Cape for a rocket launch,

IF this launch DOES happen on Sunday night, you could stay home and watch it on You Tube. Keep in mind the launch date may slip if there is damage tonight from what's now Hurricane Nicole. Just declared at 6:00. You may get some gusty winds overnight, some heavy rain. It will improve tomorrow, sun may even get out!! WE in Syracuse may get up to 2 and a half inches of heavy rain Friday night. At that point, it will be a breezy non-tropical storm.

Hope it doesn't freeze on you up there. That was one of the worst things about living in the north...ice storms. My brother and sister in law were in Watertown as he was stationed at Fort Drum during that hellacious one that had a good many years ago now. Still the worst ever.

It is bad now. Watching the hurricane LIVE on FOX Weather. There are 2 female meteorologists outside near Daytona Beach in that crap. I worry they could get hurt out there if they are not careful. I also am concerned about the safety of that rocket. As I suspected, the launch date has slipped further back already, to next Wednesday. The eye of the storm is now encroaching Jupiter. I have a couple friends who live in the same condo complex we lived in for 4 winters; we had to get rid of the complex this year due to plumbing and other problems. Those 2 friends hopefully are safe. There are worries that 22 buildings that were weakened by Ian's outer bands at Daytona Beach, may collapse, so they evacuated those buildings tonight. Cape Canaveral's Kennedy Space Center CLOSED through Friday. So is Port Canaveral for obvious reasons; they wanted ALL ships out of there tonight. As for that ice storm, that was in January 1998. The storm was extensive from Watertown into New England and southeastern Canada. Millions got impacted, there were some deaths, extensive power outages for maybe 3 weeks in spots. The ice damage to trees and power infrastructure was incredible; one of the worst ice storms in modern history. Despite that ice storm, Syracuse escaped because of unusually mild 60-degree weather, maybe even 65. Thunderstorms hit Syracuse late in the week in the morning for about an hour or so; in Watertown, in the cold air, the thunderstorm was freezing rain that morning, aggravating the ice damage.
