Well, Mike, you can take a breather and relax, for now. Beryl was certainly a trailblazer into the annals of weather history!! For sure, the name Beryl will certainly have to be retired. There was some fantastic hurricane chasing overnight on Youtube!! No trouble or buffering with one streamer I was watching, near the eye intercept.

Beryl was horrid - I've been through plenty of hurricanes and I never heard the kind of sounds Beryl caused and made. Our whole place sounded like a creaking wooden ship sound soother. Pops, snaps, crunches across the ceiling, continously, like it was traveling. You had to acclimate to it.

It was only 80 mph at landing at Matagorda, but we're (right now) in N Hou (a long way away) and we had horrible, prolonged winds that did NOT belong to a cat 1. Beryl seemed like some new form of supercharged '1'.

We were very, VERY lucky that it wasn't stronger.
