I live on the Gulf and all I can say is, "Crap!" Unfortunately every part of the country has its own type of natural disasters, look at Vermont right now. Moving would only mean I'd be getting something else just as bad and possibly more common than hurricanes. Glad I'm not a young person just starting out on life.
Vermont was affected by a former hurricane, Irene, in 2011. A month later another tropical storm turned nor'easter affected Binghamton with heavy flooding. I think Syracuse might have had maybe an inch or two from those rains. All I know is that starting Labor Day of that year, and lasting for a good part of a week, we had steady rains and much colder weather after a 3-day heat wave of 90 degrees.......It dropped out of the 70s Labor Day to the 50s with steady rain. It didn't help that a cold front stalled and the former tropical storm rode along it. It never got hot again, if memory serves me correctly.
That is awful early in the year for cold weather. Nasty, hate those type of days when you get such a drastic change. I do remember one spring day in Michigan (long before cell phones and internet) where it was in the 70s when I went to work and we had 8 inches of snow before I left double shift) and it was still falling fast. I had a rear wheel drive car back then and got stuck 4 blocks from home and had to walk through the blizzard in lightweight clothes and no boots. After that I always left my boots and a jacket in the car, later adding a sleeping bag and pillow along with nonperishable food.
Now THAT's CRAZY!! To go from the 70s in the morning to 8 inches of snow by night???? I imagine there was probably a strong thunderstorm when THAT humdinger of a cold front arrived, probably with hail. Probably tirned to sleet, then snow. What did it do, drop to the 20s? I would have liked to have seen THAT kind of strange weather, LOL!! Glad you made it home OK.
The temp dropped to 28. I didn't see what happened in the change as I was busy with patients all day so no clue even when it started. I missed the weather report that morning or I would have been better prepared. I really wish I could have avoided that mess.
