It will pick up once the MJO gets around and the SAL weakens, if indeed it happens, when the SAL is supposed to weaken.

Unfortunately and I am not looking forward to that happening. I do not want to possibly have another Ian this year.

I hope and pray for the best. Today, we had radar-indicated tornado warnings for Syracuse. We had a couple of thunderstorms following an unexpected hot day of 97!! Dew points were around 75. We had a strong non-thunderstorm gust of 35 when it was hot, before the big thunderstorms came. We got some much-needed rain.

I really, really hate hurricanes BUT I would much rather deal with Ian again that a strong tornado.

Ian was Category 5. A dangerous tornado is like El Reno in 2013 or whatever it was when the 4 storm chasers died that day, May 31st. THAT one was clocked at 318 miles an hour by a DOW truck(Doppler on Wheels)research weather radar. You certainly never want to see an apocolyptic tornado like that!! It was an incredible 2 miles wide, or the total distance Mom and I walk on whatever days we go walking.

When I lived up in Michigan I was terrified of tornadoes, The derecho we had in July of 1980 was pretty terrifying too. At least with hurricane you have plenty of warning and can get out of the way. I had a tornado pass over my head one time in Michigan scared the hell out of me as there was nowhere to go. fortunately it traveled a ways before touching down,

Sorry about not getting back sooner but had a serious medical scare and then my computer went dead without warning. I'm still getting this one set up right so all my emails are backed up. I don't think I like Windows 11.

It is possible your computer crashed due to that IT big the other day that affected 8.5 million Windows machines. Was the medical scare related to your heart and post-op, like a complication of surgery? I hope you are feeling OK, Laura.

Houston is in terrible shape - we rode out Beryl and then had to leave afterwards bc of the heat. We're very lucky we have another place to be, many don't.

Never seen damage like this from a cat 1. The extended power outage feels even more devastating, and many people here are very angry about it - it didn't need to be. Poor planning.

Hopefully we'll learn a huge lesson from this harbinger storm.

Love to all ⚘
