Looks like a decent chance that 94L will behave and turn north into the Atlantic. Here's hoping that with the waters still so hot that nothing else decides to start up in the Caribbean or the Gulf the rest of this season.
Now that a cold front has gone through, water temps will begin their seasonal drop. The chances of anything happening are not great anytime soon. This weather is music to your ears, Laura. 94L is likely to stay away, but if it remains weak, it MAY go west toward eventually the Yucatan should it fail to curve north and strengthen. In any case, it will not reach the U.S.
After this very long hot and humid season I am really glad to see this cold front coming through. Just a couple of days ago it was the 84 with 90+% humidity at 3 am. Not pleasant. Only problem now is it is getting to be a problem with lines in stores and restaurants for the next few months. Oh well, better than the last few.
The dry season is the time for busy stores and restaurants. At least during summer, you can probably dine out without having to make a reservation like in the winter, LOL!!
Yup, the city doubles in size or more during snowbird season and they ae beginning to fly back already. Great for the economy but I kind of miss the peace and quiet.
Just finished reading Fire Weather: A True Story from a Hotter World, by John Vaillant--makes your reports of the heat indices that much more meaningful. Highly recommend this book! And thank you for your daily updates.

Is that book available at Amazon, and is it a free Kindle book?
Yes on Amazon, but not free. I read it in Kindle, excellent notes, bibliography.
