I remember the coverage of Wilma. Other than Florida, it stalled for 3 days over the city of Cancun, Mexico as a very stronf, major hurricane, and one female reporter for CNN actually got washed into the sea and she had to swim out of the waves and obviously was soaked head to toe. She was at Cancun. A lot of damage was done at Cancun. It obviously wasn't a pleasant 3 days for anyone there. CNN interviewed a lady who was trapped in her apartment because of the local flooding and the high wind and rain and storm surge. Hopefully she was OK but anyone who stayed in Cancun for Wilma had a tough time.
Yes, Cancun got really slammed. I believe it was either a Carib or Gulf hurricane. Reminding us that those originating closeby can be a whole kind of dangerous.
Never let your hurricane guard down for the last two months! Wilma tore a large swath over FL in late OCT, among other late season systems
