Regardless of development, whether it's a named storm or an ordinary low pressure area, expect windy, warm and humid days with on and off again showers & thunderstorms, some might be severe. Tornadoes can't be ruled out, and if it becomes an ordinary low, I wouldn't rule out at LEAST some small hail possible.
Yeah windy and wet but it looks as if the temps could moderate a little bit which usually happens about this time of the year. Tornadoes I would rather not encounter, had a couple of close calls with Helene. They scare me more than the hurricanes do because there is so little advanced notice of them. Just hope it doesn't get to develop too much.
I agree about tornadoes, especially the "tropical tornadoes" within land falling tropical systems. They are often weak but appear suddenly and these brief spinups can cause severe local damage to a house or a school or other business. Usually no one dies, but if you are in a mobile home especially; they tell you do not stay in mobile homes in hurricanes, one reason is the tornadoes in the rain bands can overturn a mobile home and kill you if you are inside that mobile home. In your ordinary low pressure systems, you wouldn't want to see large twisters heading your way. Only storm chasers would hope to see large tornadoes as long as they don't damage homes and kill people, and stay over open fields.
I actually had one go over my head one day when I was stopped at a light in Waterford, Michigan. I heard that godawful noise but couldn't see anything until I looked up. Scared the crap out of me because there was nowhere to go but fortunately it didn't touch down for quite a ways after it passed me. I saw the horrific devastation close to where I used to live, left by an EF 3. Not something I want to see again or worse.
Yes, I think you did tell me about that a year or two ago. You are lucky it was only a funnel at that time. It would be a scary experience for anyone, and even chasers have gotten accidentally inside a tornado they chase, and most fortunately are lucky to get out unscathed, albeit there can be heavy vehicle damage.
Ty for always helping me to better understand what's going on, Mr. Lowry 🌻
Me as well and I have to keep up with these developments. Don't need nasty surprises.
