Thank you, thank you for this and continuing to daily point out info and warnings of the implications of these irrational, damaging and terrifying cuts to research, staff, institutional knowledge, safety and security, etc being lost because of ideology alone. This affects every one of us in this country and much of the world as well. Air travel, farmers, fishermen, shipping, vacationers, --- everyone including and beyond those of us in FL, or those in TX, NM, NC etc etc who have to prepare for approaching storms, floods, fires etc. Please continue to sound the alarm, and to provide this info we can share in our networks, our congressional people, and somehow try to halt and reverse the loss we face. It is too easy to destroy decades of science and the patient, hard won expertise of thousands of dedicated civil service employees-- and will be almost impossible to rebuild. My insurance skyrocketed this year-- with no good alternatives. The insurance industry gets this -- not compatible with their business model. The positive multiplier effect of fully funding NOAA is huge-- Thank you again
The God-King Trump (pbuh), Defender of the Faith and Hegemon of the Universe, will simply make it all up with his Sharpie—like he tried to last term with the Deep State Cone but was foiled by trans marxist woke gay elitist libtard white genocidaires—saving millions for UFC fights on the White House lawn.
If these programs are so critical to tracking and forecasting strength, route and landfall of tropical weather, let them and YOU suggest ways to cut spending elsewhere. We are taxed enough already. The nation is $37 TRILLION in debt. The ending of EV tax credit waste may be enough. May I also suggest we remove ALL the COVID related spending from 2020-2022 and make some of that available to NOAA / NHC / NWS?
Excuse me! I paid $26,000 in federal income tax last year. What did you pay? My MBA is in Finance and my undergrad degree in CHEMISTRY, so I'm also a scientist. During my career in the energy industry I ran financial analyses of $100 million and larger investment projects, determining Net Present Value and Internal Rate of Return. And I added financial risk analysis on them as well. Mistykitty3, do YOU know what these are? Do you know what a balance sheet and income statement are? I do. Scientists and engineers in the energy industry (like in oil gas exploration projects and on refineries ARE REQUIRED to run financial analyses. You are sorely misinformed on what scientists are required to do fur their employers. All of us private sector taxpayers are the REAL EMPLOYERS of the people in EVERY GOVERNMENT FUNCTION. We DEMAND financial accountability! I dare you to make an educated response!
We all pay taxes. Just because you degreed in Chem, doesn't make you a scientist. A lot of us degreed in the sciences, but you don't hear us screaming at people in all caps or claiming false accolades about our supposed prowess.
Apparently you failed the English requirement as an undergrad, because you seem to be missing some important comprehension points here. Mr. Lowry has been very clear in explaining exactly how these cuts are going to cost money, lives and suffering. There's more than one kind of toll.
He can't make any appropriate comments on solutions because like his idol he has none so he gives long tirades and makes up stories to sound well educated. He seems to approve of Trump's BBB which proves he isn't too wise.
The first response to my comment was an insult, thus the way I responded. You apparently prefer to insult me as well. I never said "cut these programs." All I am asking is to reduce fat in other areas of government to fund these essential services. Also I majored in Chemistry, CWRU. The MBA is grad school (Univ of Tulsa) at night while fully employed. As far as your insult about my "English comprehension," know that I also co-published with a Management Professor a Case Study dealing with marketing and pricing strategy. It has appeared in graduate level textbooks. Do you wish to respond without a further insult?

Agreed

Heil Trump!
It's scary to read all this, but it would be much worse to be completely in the dark. Thank you for keeping us informed🕯

Well, we can see you are a serious person, Chuck. NOT!! "If these programs are so critical .." is an ignorant statement I have seen.
Scientists are hardly the persons to be suggesting where are cuts could be made.
Their budget IS TINY.
You don't understand debt & taxes - you want services BUT don't want to pay for them.

Or... maybe that just doesn't matter to you.
Yes, excuse you, very much.

Tiresome.
Maybe you should just publish your entire Curriculum InVitae.
Maybe then you can feel justified in your callous disregard for the safety and wellbeing of others.
Again, you missed the entire point of these posts.
Thank you for another insult. Have a pleasant day!
Your first comment to me was insulting & you doubled, tripled down to everyone. You "sir" can GFY.
Wait - If you paid 25k in fed taxes, how much do you make & what is your tax rate?
You have really no idea what govt scientists do, but running the spending dollars on others’ budgets isn’t it.
Who picked out these individual programs to be cut? What expertise do they have?
